Episode #225: Oatsmobile Ale

Dan needed a break from cleaning the Life On Tap Compound, so he reached for Bell’s Brewery Oatsmobile Ale, a session pale brewed with oats.

Bell’s Brewery Oatsmobile Ale

Bell’s year-round Session Pale Ale, brewed with the signature ingredient (Oats), “uses a blend of classic and modern Pacific Northwest hops, including Mosaic, Equinox and Glacier”.  Oatsmobile Ale is available in 6-packs and on draft, weighs in at 4.3% ABV and whopping 60 IBUs (high for a session beer).

Appearance

Orange/golden orange in color, with a frothy, beautiful head and soft lacing on the glass.

Aroma

Sweet, almost orange blossom honey-like note blended with the oats and reaminder of the grain bill.

Taste

While the mouthfeel really shines, there is a tremendous amount of malt flavor with the hops coming in towards the end and on the finish.

Mouthfeel

Really big body for a session ale, compelte with coating of the tongue. Luxurious for a sub-5% beer.

Overall

Oatsmobile Ale is a killer session pale ale, period. It is very food-friendly and could definitely be drank all day. I would say it’s a good way to get your oats in…or you could say make your oats mobile LOL. If Bell’s is in your market, definitely try one for a session beer off the beaten path.
Cheers and remember:
