Dan opens up his last beer ever from Folksbier, Sif, a session ale/table beer featuring Nordic strain Kveik yeast.
Folksbier Sif
STYLE: Table Beer/Session Ale
INGREDIENTS: Voss Kveik Yeast
ABV: 4.7%
AVAILABILITY: 12-Ounce Can (Limited)
Stats above taken from the brewery’s can.
Appearance
Bright but hazy, straw to medium yellow in hue, with a cloud-like head.
Aroma
Similar to saison aroma with citrus as the focus with ruby red and a splash of clementine.
Taste
Citrus hop character leads with a nice “wheatiness” following up, finishing with a delicate but pleasing minerality.
Mouthfeel
The malt provides a nice chewiness that along with the soft carbonation, accentuates the weight of the beer on the palate.
Overall
Light, sessionable, food-friendly. Pair with appetizers like Thai Chili wings, fried calamari with a sweet chili aioli, or others that pair well with American wheat beers.
Cheers once again and thanks to the fine folks at Folksbier for their contributions to craft beer in NYC and beyond.
Cheers and remember:
Life’s a tap…drink up ’til it’s dry.
